Who is Amanda Staveley?

Staveley and her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi were formerly co-owners at Newcastle after taking a 10 per cent stake in 2021.

They were the ones who helped set up a £305m Saudi takeover of the Magpies but they withdrew from the club back in July of this year.

Several outlets over the last few weeks have reported that Staveley has now put a team together to buy a stake in Tottenham and that she is backed by ‘serious money’ from the Middle East (The Sun).

Deal advancing

Football Insider have now claimed that the former Newcastle minority owner is now ‘advancing on plans’ to make a sizeable investment in Spurs.

The report claims that Staveley was spotted in the stands at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the Lilywhites’ 3-1 win over Brentford.

She and Ghodoussi are thought to be laying the groundwork for buying around 25 per cent stake in Spurs, with discussions alleged to have been held between the parties.

The outlet adds that Staveley has already raised £500m through her investment fund PCP Capital Partners, as she gets closer to her goal of buying into Spurs.

Levy’s recent admission about investment

Over recent months, we have read many reports about various consortiums being in talks with Spurs over buying a minority stake in the North London club (Daily Mail).

Speaking at the fan forum last week, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy confessed that the club have not made any secret of the fact that they are looking for a minority investment (The Standard).

He explained that a cash injection would help Spurs push ahead with exciting new projects and make further investments in the first-team.
