Patriots Rumors: Latest On Injured Captain Doesn’t Sound Promising

The status of New England Patriots longtime captain and starting center David Andrews remains in question, but the latest doesn't sound promising.

Andrews suffered a shoulder injury during the first quarter of New England's 30-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. He did not return.

Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo did not share much intel on Andrews after the game or when he spoke with reporters Monday morning. However, MassLive's Mark Daniels and Karen Guregian on Tuesday reported the latest on the veteran.

Andrews is getting "multiple medical opinions" on his shoulder before he makes a decision, per MassLive. The Patriots should find out "relatively soon" what Andrews plans to do.

The injury to Andrews is the latest in a long line of injuries for the Patriots. Fellow captain and linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley was placed on injured reserve after he suffered a pectoral injury and safety Kyle Dugger, who was named captain in place of Bentley, suffered an ankle injury Sunday. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler on Tuesday reported Dugger avoided serious injury but still is expected to miss time.
