Report: Tottenham tell player to move to Turkey or be frozen out this season

0 1

Amid the mass exodus at Tottenham this summer, the club has still been unable to move on one player who is deemed surplus to requirements. Now, they have made it clear he has to sign for a club in Turkey before their transfer window shuts.

It’s the only option

A deadline day switch for Giovani Lo Celso to Real Betis meant that Sergio Reguilon was the last remaining player Tottenham needed to shift this summer.

The majority of the transfer windows around Europe and beyond have now closed, though, so the Spaniard is facing an anxious wait to see if he can find a new club or end up wasting away in the Tottenham reserves for the next six months.

The latest on his situation comes from The Sunday People (page 53, 8 Sept), with a report explicitly claiming the full-back is now surplus to requirements at Spurs. The North London club had wanted to offload Reguilon this summer, but now the only option available is a switch to Turkey.

Spurs have until Friday, September 13 to agree a deal with a club over there before the Turkish transfer window closes and Reguilon’s final chance for a move is gone.

The interest is there

Reguilon has a number of clubs in Turkey that are thought to be pursuing him. According to Fanatik, Jose Mourinho wants to bring the 27-year-old to Fenerbache.

Meanwhile, Besiktas are also believed to be keen on signing Reguilon (Spor Sayfa as translated by Sport Witness).

Spurs Web Opinion

Time really is running out on this situation now, and we need to make sure Reguilon is out of the door before that Turkish window shuts, or we face losing him for absolutely nothing.

The best we can probably expect even now is a loan with an obligation.
