19-year-old centre-back could get a chance after Spence omission at Spurs – Alasdair Gold
Football.London’s Alasdair Gold believes that Tottenham academy youngster Alfie Dorrington might get chances to impress in the Europa League group stages after Djed Spence was left out of the squad.

UEFA’s rules require all clubs to name at least four club-trained players as part of the total of eight homegrown players in the 25-man squad.
However, since Ange Postecoglou only had two club-trained players at his disposal, Brandon Austin and Alfie Whiteman, that meant that he had to make do with two fewer players in the squad, with the Australian opting to leave out Spence and Sergio Reguilon.
Gold now points out that Spence’s omission might leave the Tottenham boss with very few options in defence to rotate his squad.
Alfie Dorrington could get a Spurs chance
As a result, the journalist suggests that Dorrington might be handed opportunities, with the 19-year-old ball-playing centre-back thought of quite highly a Hotspur Way.
Gold explains that the teenager has only recently returned from a long-term injury layoff and suggests that he could force himself into Postecoglou’s plans, particularly if there are a few injuries to Tottenham’s defenders.
Tottenham currently only have six senior defenders in their Europa League squad – Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Radu Dragusin, Pedro Porro, Destiny Udogie, and Ben Davies.

I would be surprised if Alfie Dorrington gets an opportunity to play in the Europa League.
Tottenham’s centre-back pairing will likely be any two of Romero, van de Ven, Dragusin and Davies in all the group-stage games. He might get a spot on the bench though.
