Rio Ferdinand predicts whether Spurs will finish in the top four this season

0 2

The Premier League is sure to be more competitive than ever this year, with a number of clubs gunning for the top spots, in particular those four Champions League places. Rio Ferdinand has made his prediction for the final table, and he can’t see Spurs getting much luck.

Typical top four for Rio

While the title race is widely expected to be fought out between Manchester City and Arsenal once more, the chasing pack could include as many as six more teams.

Liverpool will be looking to sustain their challenge at the top despite being in transition this season under Arne Slot, and Aston Villa will need to balance Champions League football with league progress.

Meanwhile, Spurs are into their second year with Ange Postecoglou, and Erik ten Hag and Eddie Howe will want to improve on last season with Manchester United and Newcastle respectively. Then, there’s Chelsea, who have a huge squad and a new manager, but plenty of potential.

So, who will make the Premier League top four? Ferdinand revealed his best guess on his YouTube channel, and it will be of no surprise to anyone really.

He said: “With that being said, where would you put [United] at the end of the season? What are you going for? I went for a top four of Arsenal, City, Liverpool and then us, United, in that order.”

Spurs could still qualify for the Champions League

Of course, none of this may matter for Spurs. The Lilywhites are currently the favourites to win the Europa League this season, and in doing so, they would automatically qualify for the Champions League anyway.

Then, there is also a chance that fifth place could be enough for Champions League qualification, too. If England’s teams can go far in Europe this season, the league’s coefficient ranking may be strong enough to secure an extra spot in the top continental competition.

Spurs Web Opinion

I mean, Ferdinand was always going to put United in his top four, but I just cannot see it myself. I do think we will finish in the top four, and I think we will also win the Europa League, too. Yes, I’m being optimistic. No, I’m not ready to be proven wrong.
