QPR U18 (0) – Burnley U18 (8)

0 2

U18 Professional Development League 2

Team: Loades, Putman, Adjetey-Brew, Balogun, Cuthbert, Radojevic, Trujillo, Hamid, Recber, Neziri, Hayati

Subs: Jones, Skeete, McAvoy

With Paul Furlong’s Development side taking on Hull City at the MKM Stadium, the U18’s faced Burnley in Heston.

Benji Wetshi put the Clarets ahead in less than a minute when he belted the ball into the net from over 20 yards.

It was soon 2-0 to the visitors when Wetshi skipped past his marker, before cutting in from the left and picking his spot.

The Burnley striker broke away again down the left-flank, knocked the ball into the box, where Zac Johnson’s strike was well-stopped by Callum Loades. Two further goals followed.

On 28 minutes it was 5-0 following a corner. Noah Adekoya could well claim the goal or it may go down as an own-goal?

Callum Loades was clearly impeded as he took the ball over the line, and Mr David quite rightly awarded a free kick, but he also booked the R’s keeper!

Mehmet Recber seemingly received a hand in his face and he went down in need of some attention. The culprit wasn’t booked and the players took a drinks break.

Hassan Hamid’s excellent run through the middle then saw him lay the ball off to the wing, but the move broke down.

Adam Abbas, in acres of space on the right-flank, shot just wide of the far post. Just before the break, Benji Wetshi’s lob just evaded the target. Half-time: 0-5.

For the start of the second-half, Mehmet Recber made way for James McAvoy.

The Clarets went six-up within a minute of the re-start. Danger man, Benji Wetshi won the ball on the left and his cross into the box was tapped in.

At the other end, Felix Chester went down on one knee to receive Ashley Trujillo’s strike at goal.

Number seven arrived after the R’s had lost possession. The first attempt was blocked, but the follow-up was converted from close range.

Benji Wetshi’s next attempt was superbly tipped onto the crossbar.

Mason Skeete was introduced at the expense of Gabriel Cuthbert.

Troy Savage was shown a yellow card.

Hassan Hamid shot wide of the target and the visitors later scored an eighth goal.
