Former EFL Star ‘Underwhelmed’ By Coventry City’s Transfer Window

0 3

Former EFL star Adrian Clarke believes that Coventry City failed to flex their muscles in the recent transfer window and thinks it has been a weak window for the Robins.

This summer, Mark Robins side have seen two of their standout performers from last season in the form of Callum O’Hare and Kasey Palmer depart the club.

Despite signing high profile players in the form of Jack Rudoni and Brandon Thomas-Asante, Coventry failed to bring in replacements for Palmer and O’Hare this summer.

Clarke thinks O’Hare and Palmer’s departures are a big blow for the Robins and is of the view Coventry failed to show their ambition for promotion by not flexing their muscles in the window.

The ex-EFL star admits that Coventry have a good squad but stressed their business in the window has been weak as they needed a few more quality players to compliment their squad.

When asked about whether losing two of their players of last season is going to be a blow for Coventry, Clarke said on What The EFL: “Yes, O’Hare and Palmer going, the two number tens is a real blow, they were sort of jostling for that position this time last year or throughout the campaign really.

“I am looking at them and a bit underwhelmed, really.

“Jack Rudoni from Huddersfield has potential, Brandon Thomas-Asante another one, but neither has made a tremendous impact yet.

“It was a quiet window for Coventry City.

“It is not the kind of window they showed they are willing to flex their muscles and have a go at promotion this season.

“I think the squad is pretty strong and with just a few more quality additions, certainly players to replace O’Hare and Palmer they can get into the playoffs.

“But I think business has been a little bit weak.”

Coventry are currently 17th in the league table with four points from four games and it remains to be seen whether their new signings will be able to get them back up in the table in the coming weeks.
