Man Utd can beat Liverpool today if 25yo & 26yo stars stand out at Old Trafford - View

Manchester United welcome arch-rivals Liverpool to Old Trafford for today’s Premier League clash.

The Red Devils started off their league campaign with a 1-0 home win over Fulham, but suffered a 2-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion on the road last weekend.

They will be aiming to make amends against Arne Slot’s side and in our opinion, the full-backs could have a huge role to play in determining the outcome of the derby.

It seems quite clear that Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah will start up front for the visitors.

Jota is a genuine goalscoring threat with his clever movement in the box, but Salah and Diaz have generally been the chance creators for the Portugal international.

Diogo Dalot had a good outing at left-back against Brighton. He won six duels and had a passing accuracy of 90%. He was not dribbled past once at the Amex Stadium.

The 25-year-old also made a vital goalline clearance, but all the hard work went to vain. He was completely out of position in stoppage time, gifting Joao Pedro with a free header for the winner.

Dalot can’t afford a similar lapse in concentration against Liverpool, particularly with Salah in splendid form with three goal contributions in the first two games of the season.

Similarly, Noussair Mazraoui faces a big test against the pace and dribbling skills of Diaz. The 26-year-old was brilliant on debut against Fulham, winning 86% of his overall duels.

At Brighton, he lost two times more possession (nine) compared to the Fulham game (four), but managed to make another meaningful contribution with an assist for Amad’s goal.

Mazraoui is a perfect signing for manager Erik ten Hag with his ability to invert into midfield or make overlapping runs, but his defensive work could be key against Diaz.

Keeping Salah and Diaz at bay could be crucial to picking up three points against Liverpool.
