Dominic Solanke has only played once for Spurs so far

Solanke has not had the smoothest of starts to life at Spurs. Although the striker looked lively in his debut against Leicester City, he could not open his account for his new side despite having some big chances.

The striker subsequently picked up an ankle injury that saw him miss the clash against Everton and it remains to be seen if he recovers in time for Tottenham’s trip to St James’ Park.

However, Solanke believes that this season could have big things in store for him and the club, insisting that the Lilywhites are ready to fight for major trophies.

When asked what attracted him to Spurs, the centre-forward told Sky Sports: “Obviously, it’s a huge club. Great managers, great players, and obviously ready to fight for trophies. Their ambitions match mine, which is why I’m really happy to be here.”

When asked how he has found his first few weeks at the club, the striker responded: “Yeah, really good. I knew a few of the boys before. Everyone has made me feel welcome, the players, the staff and the fans. I’m enjoying my time here.”

Solanke is not bothered about his price tag

There has been a lot said and written about the 26-year-old’s big price tag, with Tottenham shelling out a club-record £65m to bring him through the door.

When quizzed about dealing with a big price tag, the former Cherries star said: “At the end of the day, these things are part of football. I don’t really think about it too much. It’s just important to do the stuff on the pitch.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Solanke comes across as someone who is quietly confident in his ability. The 26-year-old did not look too fazed when he missed those opportunities against Leicester, which is a useful trait for a striker to have.
