Germany legend Lothar Matthaus, 63, QUITS as football coach after row with kids’ parents
GERMANY legend Lothar Matthaus has quit his role as a youth football coach.
The Ballon d’Or winner has been coaching his son’s U13s team, TSV Grunwald, for the last two years.
But he recently stepped down for one specific reason.
During an appearance on Sky90 – the football debate, Matthaus revealed he quit due to the “problems” he received from parents.
He said: “I have resigned from my coaching position. It was a successful two years.
“The players caused fewer problems than the kids’ parents.”
He continued: “And then I thought to myself, I’ll spend the whole day on the phone and have to listen to everything I’m doing wrong.
“Everyone’s child doesn’t play enough. Then I thought to myself: let someone else do it, maybe they’ll do it better.”
Matthaus starred for the likes of Borussia Monchengladbach, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan during his professional playing career.
He also captained West Germany to victory at the 1990 World Cup.

The 63-year-old was awarded the Ballon d’Or in 1990 and named FIFA World Player of the Year the following season.
After hanging up his boots, Matthaus became a coach and managed the likes of Rapid Wien, Hungary and Bulgaria.
