Report: Liverpool and Man City both expected to submit late bids for Spurs target

0 4

According to Miguel Delaney’s Reading the Game newsletter (23/8/24), there is still a chance that rumoured Tottenham target Eberechi Eze could leave Crystal Palace before the transfer deadline, with the Eagles expecting bids to arrive for their star man over the coming days.

Eberechi Eze unlikely to join Tottenham

Tottenham’s chances of landing Eze appeared to be over it emerged a week ago that the release clause in the attacking midfielder’s contract had expired (Fabrizio Romano).

That means that any interested clubs would now have to enter into talks with Palace, who are reportedly quite keen to hang onto the England international.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth revealed on Last Word on Spurs a few days ago that it is going to take a mammoth offer to convince the South London club to part ways with the attacker at this stage of the transfer window.

Late move on the cards for Eberechi Eze?

However, Delaney has now revealed in his newsletter that there is still a chance that Eze could leave Selhurst Park before the end of the month.

The journalist explained that Oliver Glasner’s men are expecting offers to arrive for their star man from both Liverpool and Manchester City, but he made no mention of Spurs.

He also adds that many other clubs, including Arsenal, have been put off by the ‘crazy’ fee that Palace want for Eze.

Spurs Web Opinion

Given the way the likes of Lucas Bergvall and Wilson Odobert have hit the ground running at Tottenham, I cannot see Spurs shelling out big money for another attacking midfielder/winger.

Postecoglou has no shortage of attacking midfielders in his squad at the moment, with Kulusevski also appearing set to feature centrally more often than out wide this season.
