Tottenham sign Yang Min-hyuk

Tottenham have secured several talented young players over the last 12 months and they further added to that list when they secured Yang, who has been turning a lot of heads with his performances in the K-League.

The 18-year-old has had an outstanding debut season for Gangwon FC, netting eight goals and providing five assists in 27 league appearances (Transfermarkt).

The teenager is quickly gaining a reputation as the best young player in Korean football, having won the K-League’s Player of the Month award for July and becoming the first player to do so in his first season in the competition (Joel Kim).

How much did Spurs pay for Yang Min-hyuk?

There has been no clear reporting on how much Tottenham have agreed to pay Yang, with Gangwon FC confirming when the deal happened that Spurs had paid a record fee for a player moving straight from Korea to Europe.

If Transfermarkt are to be believed, the fee is not as high as some might have thought, with the outlet suggesting that Ange Postecoglou’s men shelled out a fee of just €4m (£3.3m) for the winger.

Yang will link up with the Spurs squad in January once the current K-League season finishes.

It is worth noting that Transfermarkt usually only publish the guaranteed portion of the fee, without including the add-ons.

It is quite possible that a few appearance-based and performance-related add-ons are included in the agreement. I am sure that Spurs will be happy to pay that if Yang proves to be a hit at N17.
