Spurs half-time player ratings vs Everton – Comfortable and clinical so far

Here’s how we rated the Tottenham Hotspur players following the opening forty-five minutes of action in this afternoon’s Premier League clash against Everton.

Ange Postecoglou’s side head into the break at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium currently two goals to the good and looking fairly comfortable.

Spurs took the lead thanks to a long-range effort from Yves Bissouma, before Heung-min Son punished Jordan Pickford for a poor touch to double the lead.

Tottenham half-time ratings vs Everton

Guglielmo Vicario: Has barely had anything to do. Dealt with everything that came his way. Claimed a couple of crosses really well. 6.

Pedro Porro: Good stuff from the Spaniard so far. Dealt with Dwight McNeil well, but as always, more impressive going forward, offering options down the right with the overlap. 7.

Cristian Romero: Should have buried his chance when one-on-one with Pickford early on. Played a really poor pass out of his area when he should have cleared the ball, putting us under unnecessary pressure. 6.

Micky van de Ven: Made a couple of decent clearances, and tracked back well to put pressure on Calvert-Lewin when he looked set for a free header. Looked like he would be coming off after picking up an injury, but kept going somehow. 7.

Destiny Udogie: Has kept Jack Harrison out of the game. Looked calm and confident in defensive areas, and showed his adventurous side to push forward on multiple occasions, too. Missed a decent header early on though. 7.

Yves Bissouma: An absolutely brilliant finish to get his first competitive Spurs goal and give his side the lead this afternoon — the perfect way to get back in Ange’s good books. Has been picking the ball up deep, carrying forward with confidence, and making us tick. 8.

James Maddison: Missed a sitter when through on goal, needed to control the ball better. Misplaced a couple of passes and doesn’t quite look himself in this deeper role. Pulled out a big clearance late on from a corner, though. 6.

Dejan Kulusevski: Nice work inside the box to get the space and lay the pass to Bissouma for the goal. Has been finding some nice space in and around the area and looks like he could create something every time he gets the ball. 7.

Brennan Johnson: Hasn’t been involved all that much, and when he has, the final ball hasn’t quite been right. Needs to try and beat his man more often, as those early crosses aren’t working. 6.

Heung-Min Son: Did really well to pounce on Jordan Pickford’s loose touch and stick away the second of the game. Hasn’t had much else come his way since and has been dropping deeper to get involved. 7.

Wilson Odobert: Looked really lively on his debut. Has been hard to handle down the left-hand side, and looks eager to take people on and make something happen. Became a little quieter as the half went on, but a promising start. 7.
