James Maddison thinks the media will get ‘carried away’ criticising Tottenham

James Maddison has admitted that he and his Tottenham teammates are frustrated that they ended up dropping two points at the King Power Stadium.

Tottenham should have been out of sight

During the first half on Monday, it seemed like a cakewalk for Spurs, with there being a massive gulf in class between the two sides.

Ange Postecoglou’s men were relentless in the way they pressed the home side, who kept turning the ball over and had to resort to last-ditch clearances time and again to keep the Lilywhites at bay.

However, as we saw too many times last season, Tottenham could not make their advantage count and were made to pay by Leicester following a defensive lapse in the second half.

In the end, the North London side had to settle for a point, with questions once again being raised about their mentality (talkSPORT).

Maddison says the media will get carried away

Maddison confessed that these are the sort of games that Spurs should be winning but the attacking midfielder called on his teammates to block out the outside noise and focus on their task at hand.

The 27-year-old told The Standard: “We should be getting three points at places like this. No disrespect to Leicester, but they are a newly-promoted team. What we want to achieve, we need to come away with three points.

“How the game went, it was frustrating to drop points. Nights like this, the media will get carried away about us dropping points from winning positions, but it’s all outside noise.”

There were certainly a lot of positives to take from Tottenham’s performance but unfortunately, the same problems continue to haunt us.

Until the side can demonstrate that they can have defensive control for 90 minutes, the same questions will continue to be asked of them.
