‘A good fit’ – Pundit thinks one Tottenham signing will be a success at the club

Tottenham have acquired a few new players this summer, but the pressure is well and truly on one of them in particular. Thankfully, Chris Sutton thinks the club’s new signing will be a success.

Spurs have signed the right man

After a slow start to the summer transfer window, Spurs kicked into gear over the last fortnight with the signings of Dominic Solanke and Wilson Odobert.

The former, a £65m signing from Bournemouth, is expected to be the Lilywhites’ leading striker under Ange Postecoglou.

Whether the 26-year-old can replicate the form that made him one of the Premier League’s top scorers last season or not remains to be seen, but Chris Sutton believes Solanke was a shrewd signing for Tottenham.

He told BBC 606: “Solanke is decent, he’s a good signing for them. I know people speak about it being £65m, but he scored 19 goals last season, over a third of [Bournemouth’s] goals.

“I think he will be a good fit for Tottenham. I wasn’t always sure about him but I think after losing Harry Kane, I think he will do well there.”

A goalless debut for Solanke

Solanke made his debut for Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night in the club’s first league game of the season, a 1-1 draw against newly-promoted Leicester City.

The new Spurs striker had an eventful game, with all three of his shots being on target, but he was unable to find the back of the net with a couple of headers and a strike straight at Leicester goalkeeper Mads Hermansen.

I am confident Solanke will be a success for Spurs, and he showed lots of promise against Leicester.

Maybe it was nerves and the weight of expectation on his debut, but I think he would normally score all three of those chances he missed. Once he gets more accustomed to our style of play, the goals will flow.
