Crystal Palace open talks with 23-year-old defender as Marc Guehi saga rumbles on
Crystal Palace have opened talks with Fenerbahce over a move for defender Jayden Oosterwolde according to reports in Turkey.
The Eagles are assessing their options in defence as doubts remain over the future of Marc Guehi, with Newcastle having had four bids rejected for the England international.
Palace have been looking at alternatives incase the 24-year-old does move on and have been linked with Trevoh Chalobah and Maxence Lacroix, who they have reportedly agreed personal terms.

However, it appears there’s now a new name of interest and Turkish outlet Aslinda have reported that Palace have started negotiations for Oosterwolde and have requested a meeting with Fenerbahce.
The reports adds that Newcastle are also amongst the clubs interested and the Turkish giants are thought to value the defender at around €25m.
The Dutchman currently has three years left on his deal and has featured six times this season for Jose Mourinho’s side.
The 23-year-old came through the ranks at Dutch side FC Twente before moving to Parma and he joined the Turkish giants in January 2023.
Oosterwolde can play at both left back and centre back with his versatility likely to be attractive to Palace boss Oliver Glasner.
It’s not beyond possibility that Palace keep Guehi and still add another defender to their ranks, whilst it’s possible that Joachim Andersen could leave with the Denmark international attracting strong interest from Fulham, who are believed to have had an offer rejected.
It’s unclear yet whether Newcastle will return with a fifth bid for Guehi but Palace will be desperate to keep hold of one on their key players given they have already lost Michael Olise.
Glasner’s men didn’t get off to the best of starts as they lost their opening game 2-1 against Brentford on Sunday, but there’s plenty to be positive about for the Eagles this season.
