According to HITC, Bournemouth have successfully seen off competition from Tottenham and other Premier League clubs to strike a deal for Barcelona defender Julian Araujo.

Bournemouth sign Julian Araujo

The report reveals that Barca put the 22-year-old on the shop window as they wish to raise the necessary funds to land Joao Cancelo from Machester City.

Spurs, Manchester United and West Ham all allegedly conducted checks on the right-back this summer, with the Lilywhites thought to view the youngster as a potential understudy to Pedro Porro.

However, it is the Cherries who have allegedly won the race for Araujo, with the Premier League agreeing a £10m deal with Barca, with the deal also expected to include a significant sell-on clause.

Fabrizio Romano has also now reported that Bournemouth have agreed a fee of around €10m to sign Araujo from Barcelona.

The deal will formally be completed next week, as the Cherries seemingly beat Spurs, Man United and West Ham to the 22-year-old.

This news comes after Bournemouth agreed on a club-record sale of Dominic Solakne to Tottenham, with the North London side announcing the deal this afternoon (David Ornstein).

Spurs Web Opinion

With Djed Spence looking set to stay and with Archie Gray also capable of filling in at right-back, I do not see Tottenham pursuing another player for that position.

If reports over recent days are to be believed, a backup left-back is a bigger priority for Postecoglou.
