Kane and Dier both spent most of their careers with Tottenham

After progressing through the academy, Kane quickly became a Tottenham legend, netting 280 goals in Lilywhite, making him the club’s all-time top goalscorer. (Sky Sports)

However, Harry Kane made an emotional exit from Tottenham Hotspur last summer following years of speculation about the striker’s future. Bayern Munich landed the superstar’s signature in a move worth around £86.4 million, according to the BBC.

Eric Dier joined long-term Tottenham teammate, Kane, in Munich on an initial six-month loan in January, a deal worth £3.4 million according to The Standard. Dier then became a permanent Bayern player this summer after his deal expired at Tottenham.

Tottenham will thank Kane and Dier for their service on Saturday

Spurs have announced that ahead of Saturday’s kick-off, both Kane and Dier will be presented with commemorative gifts, with a statement that read:

“Saturday’s pre-season clash with FC Bayern at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium sees a return to N17 of Harry Kane and Eric Dier for the first time since their departures from the Club.

“We have not previously had the opportunity to bid farewell to two players who have made such a significant contribution to our Club in recent years.

“Ahead of the game, in recognition of their years of service to Tottenham Hotspur, the pair will be presented with commemorative gifts on behalf of the Club by our Ambassador, Ledley King.

“The presentation is expected to take place approximately 15 minutes before the 17:30 kick-off, following the completion of the team warm-ups. We advise fans in attendance to be in their seats early”.

Spurs Web opinion

Kane left in the summer of 2023 in unusual fashion, actually playing for Tottenham just days before his exit with a move gathering pace right at the end of the window.

It will therefore be fitting for one of the club’s greatest-ever players to truly say goodbye after what felt like a rushed farewell last season where Kane could only record a video confirming his exit from Tottenham.

Dier is in a similar case to Kane where the duo didn’t get a send-off like Hugo Lloris did, with Dier’s exit actually being welcomed by many fans after his nine-year stay at the club. The defender may get a better reception than many believe, and rightly so, after the dust has settled on Dier’s time at Tottenham.
