Boston Radio Host, Patriots Champ Respond To Matthew Judon

Matthew Judon went viral on social media for calling out two local radio hosts, and it doesn't seem like the beef between them and the star Patriots pass rusher is close to ending.

Judon on Tuesday reposted a video of Andy Gresh and Christian Fauria during Day 10 of New England training camp where the WEEI hosts criticized the linebacker for his comments toward media regarding his social media posts. Judon called for Gresh and Fauria to step up and talk to him or to stop criticizing him.

The 31-year-old caught the ire of some fans and media for how he's handled his contract situation. Judon is seeking a contract extension and even went on a podcast to voice his frustrations. Things seemed to go scorched earth when Judon and head coach Jerod Mayo got into a verbal spat during practice last week. However, the sides seemed to make amends when Judon attended and fully participated in practice days after the incident.

Tuesday's social media post seemed to indicate lingering frustration from Judon. Gresh and Fauria responded to the star edge rusher on their show Wednesday and reiterated that their gripe with Judon was him not owning up to his cryptic posts and his deflections about his contract status.

Gresh pointed out that media aren't allowed to walk onto the practice field or stop a player from walking to the field to interview them nor are media allowed to demand to talk to executives like Eliot Wolf anytime they wish -- Judon deflected questions about his contract by telling media to talk to the front office. There is time for media to talk to players selected by the team for a limited amount of time, but that is a scrum session, which was why Gresh and Fauria found it laughable Judon demanded they step up and talk to him.

"Matt Judon is upset that people aren't rallying around him," Gresh told Fauria, per WEEI. "The fans are not circling around screaming, 'By god, we need Judon.' There's no riots in the streets. I hate to say this to Matthew Judon. You are not Willie McGinest. You're not. Willie McGinest was the voice of the defense, was respected, was a badass. ... That guy is beloved at defensive end. I'm sorry to say Matt Judon, you're not a beloved figure here to where people and fans are gonna scream and bend over backwards that you have to be on this roster."

Fauria believes Judon continues to contradict himself in his media appearances, and the two-time Patriots Super Bowl champion admitted he'd love to have a sit down with him. Gresh and Fauria said the door is "wide open" for a sitdown interview on their show with the promise of tough questions. They and New England fans will wait patiently for a response from the Pro Bowler.
