Report: Dominic Solanke is keen on a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly closing in on the signing of a new striker this summer, and the player they’re targeting is apparently keen to prove himself at a top club.

Solanke wants to test himself at Spurs

Dominic Solanke looks to be the prime target for Tottenham now as they look to add a striker to their squad, and finally replace Harry Kane after seeing the club’s all-time leading goalscorer move on almost a year ago.

Reports suggest the £65m release clause Bournemouth have on the striker could be problematic, though Spurs believe they can avoid that and pay closer to £60m (TEAMtalk).

Whether a fee can be agreed or not remains to be seen, but the latest from The Telegraph suggests Solanke himself would be very open to the idea of joining Spurs.

That’s because the 26-year-old is eager to find “another opportunity” to show what he can do at one of the “biggest clubs” in the Premier League. He previously had rather disappointing spells at Liverpool and Chelsea earlier in his career.

Chelsea baulk at Solanke price

In addition, the report mentions Chelsea as another club that has been looking at Solanke this summer, with the Blues apparently interested in bringing him back to Stamford Bridge.

That interest is unlikely to lead anywhere, though, as Chelsea are believed to have been put off by the price tag Bournemouth have placed on the striker.

According to Fabrizio Romano, any deal for Solanke could end up being ‘difficult’ to negotiate due to Bournemouth’s desire to keep their talismanic forward.

It’s easy to see why Solanke would be keen to move to a big club and prove he can do it at the very top level, and I do think he would do pretty well at Spurs.

With the service he could receive from the likes of Son, Kulusevski, Johnson, Maddison, and Werner, he could and should score 20 goals really.
