Hammers sign German forward
West Ham have officially completed the signing of German striker Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund. The 31-year-old has moved for a reported £27m fee and has put pen to paper a four-year-deal at the London Stadium.
New Hammers technical director Tim Steidten is known to Fullkrug from their time together at Werder Bremen. Fullkrug only joined Dortmund at the beginning of last season but had a pretty good campaign at the Westfalenstadion with 15 goals to his name as BVB finished Champions League runners up.
However, the arrival of Serhou Guirassy this summer potentially meant reduced playing time for Fullkrug and with one eye on making Germany’s 2026 World Cup squad, he has opted for a change in scenery. The forward was part of Germany’s Euro 2024 squad and scored key goals for Die Mannschaft, who were eliminated in the quarterfinals by eventual winners Spain.
Fullkrug’s transfer takes West Ham’s spending this summer to over £100m, with the likes of Max Kilman, Crysencio Summerville, Luis Guilherme and Wes Foderingham all new arrivals at the London Stadium.
The Hammers will have a new manager for 2024/25 in the form of Spaniard Julen Lopetegui, who has taken over the reins from David Moyes.
