“It’s close” – Sky Sports reporter confirms optimism around West Ham transfer

West Ham United are looking for a new right-back this summer and they are currently involved in talks with Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

New manager Julen Lopetegui is making big changes at the club this summer after replacing David Moyes.

Since his arrival, the Hammers have signed players in different positions and strengthened their squad.

The east Londoners are looking to build on their top half finish in the Premier League last season and the Hammers hierarchy believes Lopetegui is the right person to take the club forward.

West Ham United were interested in signing Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui but they failed to agree terms with him.

Now, they are targeting a move for Wan-Bissaka, who Man United are looking to sell because he has entered the final year of his contract at the club.

According to information provided by Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth to GiveMeSport, the English full-back’s transfer to the London Stadium might happen soon.

He said:

“As far as Aaron Wan-Bissaka is concerned, personal terms still need to be agreed with him.

“But as it stands, the deal is not fully agreed, so Manchester United are thinking, until it is, we’ve got to assume he remains a Manchester United player.

“So it’s close, it’s moving. Talks are continuing. We’re still expecting, as it stands, like there’s a cautious optimism that that one will happen.”

The Man United right-back is known for his defensive ability and West Ham need reliability at the back.

Their defense has been shaky for a long time, particularly last season when they conceded 74 goals in the Premier League.

West Ham United plan to revamp their defense

The Hammers want Wan-Bissaka to become a part of their defensive overhaul, which has seen them sign centre-back Max Kilman this summer.

More transfer business is expected at the London Stadium this summer as Lopetegui is keen to continue his club’s spending spree for new players.

West Ham have now strengthened all their positions with the signings of Kilman, Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham, Niclas Fullkrug and Crysencio Summerville.
