Predicted XI for Tottenham’s second friendly against Bayern Munich – Romero returns

It’s a case of déjà vu for Spurs fans this week, as the team gears up for another friendly against Bayern Munich, just one week after already playing the German side. So, here’s our predicted lineup for the friendly.

Tottenham faced Bayern in the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Saturday afternoon and, despite a fine Pedro Porro goal, were unable to get the better of the Bundesliga outfit who claimed a 2-1 win.

Now, the Lilywhites have a chance to put things right immediately as they will host Bayern at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in their final pre-season game of the summer.

Who will start the game?

Here’s who we think Ange Postecoglou will play from the start for the clash with Bayern.

Guglielmo Vicario: Tottenham’s number one is nailed on to start the game and might even get the full 90 minutes this time around.

Pedro Porro: Continued his excellent run of form with a brilliant goal against Bayern last time out, and will be hoping to do the same again at the weekend.

Cristian Romero: It’s a bit of a longshot, but we have a feeling Cuti will be ready and raring to go after his long break, and Ange has been known to throw his key players back in quickly in the past.

Radu Dragusin: Started for the first time in pre-season last weekend and there is no reason he will be dropped for this final preparation game.

Djed Spence: Ange surprised Spurs fans by giving Spence the start at left-back last weekend, and with Destiny Udogie still not quite match-ready, the Djed revival should continue.

Yves Bissouma: Hasn’t started the last two games, but with the Spurs players looking a little leggy against Bayern last time out, Pape Sarr could be rested with Bissouma coming in to replace him.

Archie Gray: Has been a regular fixture in Postecoglou’s team this summer and it seems he wants to see as much of the youngster as possible. This could be a great chance for the home fans to see their new signing.

James Maddison: Postecoglou looks pretty set on his front four right now, but Maddison will need to put in a good performance if he is to cement his place for the start of the season.

Brennan Johnson: Came in for some criticism against Bayern last time out, but has been in good form this summer. Plus, frankly, we don’t have many other options.

Dejan Kulusevski: Has been operating as a false nine of late, with a decent level of success. Ange will want to continue this experiment, as it will likely be where Kulusevski starts in the opening game of the Premier League campaign.

Heung-min Son: The Spurs captain will start every game when he is fit, so there’s no reason to suspect he would be dropped for this final pre-season match.

Who else will get minutes?

We are hoping to see Destiny Udogie get a little run out for this game as he steps up his recovery. There will also likely be minutes for Ben Davies in defence, and if Emerson Royal’s move to AC Milan still hasn’t happened, the Brazilian will probably feature here.

Jamie Donley will no doubt come on at some point, but could well be playing in his more traditional midfield role if Udogie does return at left-back. Lucas Bergvall and Alfie Devine should also get some more minutes under their belt.

In attack, Will Lankshear appears to now be at the head of the backup strikers and will almost definitely get another chance to show what he can do. Timo Werner and Mikey Moore should be introduced on the flanks in the second half, too.
