The #LUFC Breakfast Debate (Thursday 1st August) Leeds agree £30m structured deal for Summerville

Good Morning. It's Thursday 1st August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road...

Leeds agree £30m structured deal for Summerville

Crysencio Summerville will sign a five year contract at the London Stadium later today, after West Ham and Leeds finally struck a structured £30m deal for the flying Dutchman.

They reached a compromise at around 4pm yesterday afternoon after nearly two weeks of negotiations. Leeds wanted £40m, whilst the Hammers refused to budge from their initial offer, half what Leeds were asking for! Cree was kept out of the Leeds side that battered Shalke on Saturday, as both sides were finally making progress.

West Ham will pay an initial £25m, plus an extra £5m made up of very basic odd-ons. Whilst many will rightly challenge the fee, Leeds have a shopping lost of three players that they don't want to lose out on. We can expect to see signings this week!

It brings an end to his four year tenure, during which time the 22yo has grown massively in both ability and temperament. There were times when we thought he wasn't going to make it at Elland Road, but he found his footing under Daniel Farke, excelling as an inverted left winger!

Will it be Sara?

With Summerville East London bound, fans will undoubtable demand a significant replacement to come through the doors of Elland Road; could it be Gabriel Sara?

The Brazilian will be on many fans wish lists, but would he go to Leeds? Europa League winners Atalanta have been strongly linked, but several reports indicate, he wants to stay in England. Closer to home, Crystal Palace and Leicester City have been monitoring the situation.

He joined Norwich in July 2022 from São Paulo. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is €18m. In the 2023/24 season, Gabriel Sara played 46 matches, scored 13 goals, and provided 12 assists. Top flight outfits Crystal Palace and Leicester City have also been linked.

Surely Leeds must go after Millar

News of Hull City's bid to sign Basel winger Liam Millar may have been an instrumental factor why Leeds have accepted West Ham's deflated offer for Crysencio Summerville.

The Canadian International winger caught the attention of many Championship outfits with his displays, whilst on loan with Preston last season. He is in the final year of his contract, and keen to return to England.

Hull tabled a bid of around £2.3m towards the end of last week, but since then, speculation surrounding the 24yo has gone eerily quiet. Millar's ability to influence games with his goal contributions and attacking prowess makes him an attractive prospect for the Whites, and could prove to be the bargain of the season!
