‘I’ve been told’ – Sky reporter claims Spurs are about to make an offer for midfielder
Despite strong interest and movement from Spain, it is thought Tottenham Hotspur will make their own move for one Premier League midfielder before the transfer window closes.
The Conor Gallagher saga is not over for Spurs
That’s according to Sky Sports journalist, Kaveh Solhekol, who has been discussing the transfer situation surrounding Conor Gallagher so far this summer.
He said on Sky Sports’ YouTube channel: “Atletico Madrid are there for him, but I don’t think they’re offering enough. I’ve been told today that Chelsea are expecting Spurs to come in for him maybe in the next couple of days or the next few weeks. When he comes back from holiday there could be some major developments.”
It was reported by Fabrizio Romano this week that Atletico Madrid were closing in on a deal for Gallagher, with talks underway between the La Liga giants and Chelsea. He said Atletico had been told an offer of around €35m-€40m (£29.5-33.7m) would be enough to seal the deal.

The Mirror reported last week that Spurs were still keeping an eye on Gallagher. Aston Villa are said to have withdrawn from the race to sign the England international, but that particular update suggested it could cost up to £50m to secure the signing.
That’s some way off Tottenham’s maximum valuation of the 24-year-old, though. According to GiveMeSport, Spurs would only go as high as £40m for Gallagher, with the Lilywhites comparing his value to that of what they paid for James Maddison last summer.

Conor Gallagher is a good player, no doubt about it, but I just don’t think he’s the player we need right now.
The absolute priority should be finding a new striker, so there’s no point spending £40-50m on a midfielder, especially when we have the likes of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall on board and have already shown glimpses of what they can offer..
