Birmingham City Keen On 11-Goal Man But May Face League One Obstacle

0 4

Birmingham City are interested in a striker who spent last term on loan in the Championship and scored eleven times in the process, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Blues are not being shy when it comes to splashing the cash and recently forked out half a million for midfielder Marc Leonard.

Chris Davies is determined to ensure that Birmingham’s stay in League One is as brief as possible and he wants firepower to blast his way out of the division.

Birmingham are now looking at Ike Ugbo, who spent last term on loan at Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday, scoring eleven times.

He made a major contribution towards keeping Sheffield Wednesday up and they are keen to re-sign him this summer, but the asking price is an issue.

Ugbo is valued at £4.5m by his current club Troyes, but interested sides will look to reduce that figure.

Birmingham’s real battle with Ugbo it is suggested could be to convince him to drop into League One.

The striker came through the youth set-up at Chelsea and had a host of loan spells away from Stamford Bridge before ending his association permanently with a move to Genk.
