Red Sox Officially Announce Alex Cora’s Three-Year Extension

Alex Cora has the Boston Red Sox fighting for a playoff spot with a young team rising to prominence in 2024.

After months of speculation, his future is clear.

The Red Sox announced Cora and the organization agreed to a three-year contract extension on Thursday, per a team release.

Earlier reports in the day from the New York Post’s Jon Heyman and ESPN’s Buster Olney shared that Cora will make upwards of $7 million per year in his new deal with the Red Sox.

Cora, in what had been a contract year, is putting together a strong case for American League Manager of the Year in 2024 by getting every ounce of production out of a youthful Boston ballclub.

Cora’s taken the Red Sox on a pair of deep postseason runs earlier in his tenure in 2018 and 2021, including one world championship. Now, the Boston manager holds stability as the team prepares to make a third postseason appearance in six seasons with Cora at the helm.
