Report: Spurs are still interested in striker who scored 26 goals last season
Tottenham Hotspur still need to sign a striker to replace Harry Kane almost a year later, and one name on their wishlist is still of interest to them as the summer window ticks on.
Gimenez is one of many names on Tottenham’s radar
Naturally, having scored 26 goals in all competitions for Feyenoord last season, Santiago Gimenez has been a person of interest for Tottenham and many other clubs so far this summer.
Spurs are seemingly in no rush to land a new striker, though that role is believed to be high on the agenda for this current transfer window.
And, according to reports from TuttoJuve, Gimenez is still a player Tottenham are interested in, with a move for the Mexican forward being considered by the Lilywhites.
That is as much as the report offers on the matter, but it also cites Jonathan David and Federico Chiesa as potential attacking additions to Ange Postecoglou’s squad.
Meanwhile, it looks like Spurs have “ruled out” any interest in Ivan Toney or Dominic Solanke.
Spurs face competition for Gimenez
Tottenham are not alone in their supposed pursuit of Gimenez, though. Apparently, AC Milan are also prepared to push ahead with a move for the Feyenoord star (Tuttosport via MilanNews).
Fellow Italian giants, AS Roma, are also believed to be very keen on signing the 23-year-old and are desperate to win the race for his signature (Il Tempo via Roma Press).
And, a lot closer to home, it is suggested Arsenal may be thinking about throwing their name into the hat for Gimenez, too (Standard).
Spurs Web Opinion
Gimenez is a great striker who has shown what he is capable of with a phenomenal campaign, and there is every chance he would be a success at Spurs.
But, for every player who has come to the Premier League from the Netherlands and been a success, there have been many who have failed to make the transition, and that worries me.
