Red Sox’s Rafael Devers Not Worried After Injury Scare

For a team that’s already sustained a long list of injuries, the Boston Red Sox had another scare on Tuesday surrounding their biggest star.

Rafael Devers dove to his left on a ball off the bat of Ezequiel Tovar in Tuesday night’s 6-0 win over the Colorado Rockies. The star infielder remained on the ground after landing on his right shoulder and getting attention from the medical staff.

Devers did stay in the game and appeared to be alright as the Red Sox captured their first win since the All-Star break.

“He’ll be fine,” Alex Cora told reporters, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “Obviously, the worst, right? We’ve been through this path before. He’s OK. He said he just jammed it. He took some vicious hacks in the last at-bat. He said he’ll be ready for tomorrow.”

“At the beginning, I felt a little bit scared because I didn’t land in a good way,” Devers told reporters through Red Sox translator Carlos Villoria, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “I was warm so I didn’t feel much. Little bit of soreness here and there. We’ll see how I wake up tomorrow when the body’s cooled off. … I feel like I’m going to be available tomorrow.”
