Near-fit Tottenham squad

Pape Matar Sarr is apparently fighting his way back to full fitness in time to participate in Spurs’ Asia tour, and he will hope to be joined by Ben Davies, who has been out with calf problems since April, which caused him to miss five games at the end of last season.

There is hope that Destiny Udogie is on his way back following surgery on his quadriceps in April. The surgery ruled him out of Italy’s Euros squad, which would have left him bitterly disappointed last April.

Postecoglou did not mention Udogie specifically in his injury update, which FootballLondon say could suggest he is on the way back in good time.

Forster and Richarlison are a little way behind

Fraser Forster suffered a severe ankle injury in February, which kept him out for the second half of the season. Ange didn’t provide a timeframe for him, although he did say that the goalkeeper would be a bit behind the others.

Richarlison has had two injury-hit seasons at Spurs, leaving many fans frustrated with his availability and general performance. According to Ange, he could be out roughly the same time as Forster, so expect Lankshear, Scarlett, and Veliz to battle it out for more minutes during pre-season.

Postecoglou said: “Pape [Matar Sarr] and Ben [Davies] should be okay for the tour in terms of participating. Richy is probably a little bit behind them.

“Fraser is probably a little behind them as well. I think they’re the main ones and nothing else significant.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Richarlison can be electric when he’s fit, but he is hardly ever fit. He’s had a super frustrating time here at Tottenham, and you almost feel that this is a now-or-never season for him on Postecoglou’s plans.
