Celtic Boss Brendan Rodgers Speaks To Target But Pursuit Takes Twist

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has held talks with a target, but there has been a twist as the star’s representatives have now also touched base with Rennes.

 

Rodgers has just boosted the goalkeeping options at Celtic Park by signing Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo.

 

He also wants additions in the final third and is showing interest in Royal Antwerp forward Michel-Ange Balikwisha.

 

 

Rodgers has spoken to Balikwisha, according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, but there has been a twist caused by the move of Martin Terrier to Bayer Leverkusen.

 

Balikwisha’s representatives have now been in touch with French side Rennes.

 

 

They feel that the Ligue 1 outfit are looking for someone with Balikwisha’s profile and are keen to open the lines of communication.

 

It is unclear whether Balikwisha would prefer a move to Rennes over Celtic.

 

 

The 23-year-old came through the youth set-up at Standard Liege before being snapped up by Antwerp in the summer of 2021.

 

He won the Belgian league title and Belgian Cup with the club in the 2022/23 campaign.
