Alasdair Gold reveals exciting thing he has been told about Heung-min Son this week
Tottenham Hotspur are gearing up for another season of Premier League football and it seems as though captain Heung-min Son is ready to hit the ground running.
Heung-min Son is raring to go at Tottenham
Since Harry Kane departed for Bayern Munich last summer, Spurs have relied upon Heung-min Son more than ever in terms of carrying the club’s goalscoring burden.
The South Korean star carried it with aplomb last season, netting 17 goals and recording another 10 assists in 35 Premier League matches for Spurs (TransferMarkt).
It remains to be seen whether Son will return to his usual left-wing berth this year, or whether Ange Postecoglou will continue to deploy him down the middle as a number 9 – as he did in the recent friendly against Hearts.
Heung-min Son is looking sharp in training
Sonny has now taken part in two pre-season friendlies this summer, one behind closed doors against Cambridge United and one on SpursPLAY against Hearts. Spurs won these games 7-2 and 5-1 respectively.
Son scored a brace against Cambridge and started the match against Hearts, although he didn’t find the back of the net in his 45-minute cameo on Wednesday.
It seems the forward is looking sharp in training behind closed doors though, with sources telling Alasdair Gold that Son has looked ‘amazing’ since returning to training.
Gold said on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast: “That was one thing I was told, a couple of people said that Sonny looked amazing. Apparently, he looked so sharp like he hadn’t even been away. So that’s good news, that’s very good news.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
I really want Tottenham to sign a new centre-forward so we can move Son back out wide this season. I think it gives the whole team a much better balance to it, plus Spurs need a target man in the middle.
