‘I’ve got things to prove’ – Tanguy Ndombele breaks silence on Tottenham exit

Tottenham have had something of a clearout already this summer, and one player who has moved on claims he has a lot to prove now that he’s left the club.

Ndombele looking to get his career back on track

It’s safe to say Tanguy Ndombele‘s time at Tottenham was nothing short of a disaster, but it’s finally over. Now, speaking to Nice-Matin (via Sport Witness) about his move to Nice, the Frenchman has a positive outlook on this next step in his career.

He said: “Joining Nice is a natural choice, given my somewhat complicated career over the last few years. Coming back to France was the right choice for me. I’ve known Florian Maurice since my time at Lyon, and that’s also what tipped the balance.

“I had a good feeling that Nice were the best choice for me. I’m at a stage in my footballing life where I need to play. I want to rediscover some of my sensations. I’m happy to be here, the coach talks to me like he talks to all the players.

“There’s no guarantee of playing time, but I know I’ve got things to prove. The most important thing is the team. When it’s doing well, everyone does well. Have I had a lot of requests? Yes and no. Between exchanges and offers, there’s always room for improvement.”

Where did it all go wrong?

Ndombele was Spurs’ record signing, but he only managed to show glimpses of his quality during his time in North London. It’s been years since he last played for the Lilywhites, having spent time on loan at Lyon, Napoli, and Galatasaray.

He had his Tottenham contract terminated early on this summer, and joined Nice on a free transfer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I don’t know if Ndombele will ever get back to the level he showed in his first stint at Lyon, and all that potential has largely been wasted over the last few years.

I wouldn’t want to see any former Spurs player fail, mind you, so hopefully he can at least rediscover his love for the game at Nice.
