When it comes to the transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur have a history of being linked with players across multiple windows spread across many years.

Adrien Rabiot is no exception to this rule with the Frenchman having been linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as far back as the winter window of 2018.

The midfielder, who at the time was in the last six months of his contract at Paris Saint-Germain was reported to have had his eyes on a move to a club bigger than Tottenham, a club he feels is ‘below’ his level (ESPN).

The French international did decide to run down his contract with the Ligue 1 giants and instead moved to Juventus on a free transfer.

After racking up 212 appearances with the Serie A side, Juventus confirmed on Thursday that the 29-year-old had left the Old Lady upon expiry of his contract.

Rabiot won a Serie A title, two Italian Cups and one Italian Super Cup during his time in Turin.

Tutto Juve have now provided an update on Rabiot’s future and claimed that Tottenham have shown an interest in signing the player on a free transfer.

It is said that Rabiot is ‘approaching the Premier League’ where Tottenham are keen on his signature, while North London rivals Arsenal are also keen.

Rabiot played five times at the Euro 2024 in Germany – where France were knocked out by eventual winners Spain in the semi-finals.

Previous reports of Rabiot not feeling that Tottenham were not at his level will certainly have soured any interest in the player from some sections of the fanbase.

There is no doubt that as a free agent, he will want a sizeable signing-on fee and a hefty wage packet.

With Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg set to leave this summer, Tottenham desperately need reinforcements in the midfield area to provide some extra quality to fit in with Ange Postecoglou‘s high-energy, high-risk style of football.
