Club considering second bid to sign 10-goal United star, Manuel Ugarte could replace him - report

0 2

Fulham are considering whether to make an improved bid to sign Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay, according to Sky Sports.

The Cottagers are long-term admirers of the Scotland international. He was the club’s top target last summer when Joao Palhinha was close to joining Bayern Munich.

With Palhinha having made the move to Munich this summer, Fulham are now looking into a deal for McTominay.

Their opening bid worth £17 million was turned down by United earlier in the transfer window and ‘internal discussions’ are continuing over an improved second offer.

McTominay is not the only player on their shortlist. Tottenham’s Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg and Fluminense’s Andre are other options that the Cottagers are exploring at the moment.

Man Utd unlikely to sell McTominay on the cheap

McTominay was in-and-out of the starting line-up for the Red Devils last season, but he still made a good contribution from midfield with 10 goals and three assists from 43 outings.

Eight of those goal involvements came in the Premier League. The club graduate helped United to secure 12 extra points. They could have finished 11th without his impact.

Keeping this in mind, United are unlikely to sell him on the cheap. McTominay is not a strong ball distributor, but he is good defensively and has a good work rate.

United turned down a package of around £30m from West Ham last year and in our opinion, they should hold out for a similar fee to part ways with his services this summer.

McTominay is a home-grown player which makes him more valuable. His departure could pave the way for the Red Devils to sign Manuel Ugarte valued at £38m by Paris Saint-Germain.
