Club opens talks with Man Utd to sign 26y/o Red Devils star this summer - report

West Ham United have opened talks with Manchester United over the signing of defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer, according to talkSPORT.

The 26-year-old featured in 30 games across all competitions last term, playing at both right-back and left-back, but he is not in the plans of manager Erik ten Hag going forward, and the Hammers, who are long-term admirers, are looking to lure him away to the London Stadium in the coming weeks.

Man United are in the market for a new left-back despite the return of Luke Shaw to full fitness and the return of Tyrell Malacia to individual training after he spent the whole of last season out injured.

The Red Devils have all but wrapped up a deal for Lille centre-back Leny Yoro, while Diogo Dalot and Victor Lindelof both remain available at right-back.

As a result, it appears Wan-Bissaka is surplus to requirements, and a good offer from suitors could be enough to tempt Man United into selling him.

The former Crystal Palace star is in the final 12 months of his contract at the Old Trafford club after they activated the option to extend his deal to 2025 in January.

The deal was set to expire at the end of the 2023-24 season but Man Utd held an option to extend this by a further 12 months, which they triggered heading into the second half of the campaign.

West Ham have a new manager in Julen Lopetegui, and the Spaniard appears to be a fan of Wan-Bissaka.

The former England youth international joined the Red Devils from Palace in the summer of 2019 and has featured in 190 games across all competitions since, weighing in with two goals and 13 assists.

Ten Hag could do with a full-back capable of contributing more in the final third, and Wan-Bissaka is not that type of player despite his defensive qualities.

Man United want to make more quality recruitment this summer but will need to sell first, and cashing in on the Englishman could come in handy even if they will not be getting a huge fee by selling him.
