New England Native Keegan Bradley Named Ryder Cup Captain

Keegan Bradley will return to the Ryder Cup after all.

Bradley on Monday was named the captain of the United States Ryder Cup team for the 45th Ryder Cup, which will be played at Bethpage Black (Farmingdale, N.Y.) in Sept. 2025.

Bradley, a Vermont native who graduated from Hopkinton (Mass.) High School, is the 31st U.S. Captain. The 38-year-old made his Ryder Cup debut in 2012 and owns a Ryder Cup record of 4-3.

“I am incredibly honored to accept this opportunity to Captain the United States Team at the 2025 Ryder Cup,” Bradley said in a statement. “I would like to thank the PGA of America Ryder Cup Committee for their trust in me as we embark on this journey to Bethpage Black.

“My passion and appreciation for golf’s greatest team event have never been stronger. The Ryder Cup is unlike any other competition in our sport, and this edition will undoubtedly be particularly special given the rich history and enthusiastic spectators at this iconic course. I look forward to beginning preparations for 2025.”

Bradley was thought to be in the running for a spot on the 12-man team in 2023 before the United States traveled to Rome. However, Bradley was left off the team by then captain Zach Johnson after a decision some felt was a snub.

The United States will take the course at Bethpage Black from Sept. 26-28 and try to avenge a 16 1/2-11 1/2 loss to Europe in 2023.
