Spurs are long-term admirers of Pedro Neto

As part of ITV’s coverage of the European Championships in Germany, they have acquired the punditry of Ange Postecoglou with the Aussie manager being great entertainment already delivering one of his trademark cheeky comments, in this case, it was a jab at rivals Arsenal.

However, as well as offering the odd moment of comical relief Ange has also delivered a really in-depth and critical analysis of squads and their players which has displayed an interesting insight in the Spurs manager’s mind, his latest insight being on Wolves, Pedro Neto.

Neto, 24, has shone for several seasons with Wolves with Tottenham reportedly very much among the collection of big clubs interested with HITC claiming Spurs are ‘long-term admirers’ of the player.

Postecoglou claims Neto will ‘be on some big clubs’ radars’

Tottenham’s manager was full of praise for the diminutive winger, who racked up two goals and nine assists in a league season where he only played twenty times due to injuries, that have troubled him for a few seasons now.

Ange admitted he believed ‘apart from hamstring issues, he would have set the Premier League alight this year’ by going on to analyse how the Portuguese international is a ‘handful’, recalling how Neto ‘caused us [Spurs] all sorts of problems’ (ITV coverage).

Neto as Postecoglou stated is ‘on some big clubs’ radars’ with HITC reporting Tottenham as well as Arsenal, Newcastle United and Liverpool all have their eyes on the former Lazio man with Spurs likely to ‘add more attacking options this summer’.

As Postecoglou summarised on the ITV broadcast, Neto is an exceptional player whose ability was evident in the limited game time that he did have in the Premier League season, continuing those impressive showings in his short cameos for Portugal in the EUROs so far.

However, the fact Neto was absent from 19 games this season as a result of injury, with him missing 27 the season prior (TransferMarkt), signing the 24-year-old will be a large risk.

After the injury troubles of most of the squad last season, Spurs and Postecoglou must be wary before investing what will likely be a lot of money into signing Neto.
