Man Utd now willing to pay €50m for Bundesliga star, internal discussions ongoing - report

0 3

Bayern Munich centre-back Matthijs de Ligt remains a transfer target for Manchester United this summer.

The Red Devils value him at around €50 million right now, according to Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

Man United want another central defender following the departure of Raphael Varane this summer and given Harry Maguire’s recent fitness issues.

United manager Erik ten Hag has been a huge admirer of De Ligt from their days together at Ajax, and the 24-year-old can leave the Bundesliga club if a suitable offer is made.

Man United have yet to table an official offer, but they are willing to spend €50m on the Dutchman.

Bayern have a new manager in place after Vincent Kompany was appointed, and it appears the former Burnley boss is open to letting De Ligt go.

The club and player will discuss his future after the European Championship when the summer transfer window is expected to kick into full gear.

De Ligt would be a perfect addition to the Man United defence given his qualities and huge potential.

He caught the eyes of major European clubs during European games with Ajax under Ten Hag, and the Red Devils boss has what it takes to bring out the best in one of his former players.

The Bundesliga star is very confident on the ball and is an excellent passer. His style of play fits in perfectly into what Ten Hag is trying to do.

His strength, leadership, aggressiveness, tackling and aerial ability would also be useful.

While €50m is a decent fee for such a player, Bayern spent an initial €67m to recruit his services in July 2022 and could demand more from suitors before agreeing to sell him this summer.
