New signing Warren O’Hora admitted it was a “pinch myself moment” when he received the call from Hibernian FC.

The 25-year-old centre-back put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal with the Club earlier today (Wednesday 26 June) after his contract expired at MK Dons.

After signing on the dotted line, and meeting his teammates, he sat down with Hibs TV and revealed how happy he was when he learnt of Hibernian FC’s interest.

“I’m delighted to be here,” smiled Warren. “I couldn’t believe it when the call came to be honest.

“It was excitement and a small bit of disbelief that a club this size wanted to come and sign me.

“I came up and saw the facilities, the stadium was amazing, the city of Edinburgh is lovely; I was really taken aback by it. I couldn’t say no, it was a no brainer for me and my family. I am really happy and really looking forward to it.”

The centre-half did have a number of other opportunities in England, but it was the love he felt from the staff at Hibs that helped him make his decision.

“This feels like a big move in my career. It’s massive for me and my partner because we’re starting a family soon.

“Straight away I felt like this is a place I could call home. When we came up to look, we thought it was amazing, and when the Club put their arm round me, it made it clear we’d be able to settle in.”

Competing in Scottish football will be a new test for O’Hora, but one he’s really looking forward too.

“It’s an experience and a challenge that I haven’t had but I’m looking forward to it. It’s a good time in my career to challenge myself against the good teams in this league.

“To play for a big club like this is another challenge in itself and that’s something I’ll relish and enjoy. Like I said, when the call here came, it was a pinch myself moment.”

But what can Hibs fan expect from the Irishman?

“I love being on the ball. I’m a ball playing centre-back. I’m a leader, I’m vocal on the pitch, and when I settle in, you’ll see that.

“Ultimately, I like clean sheets. Nothing infuriates me more when the ball goes in the wrong goal. I’ll give everything for the shirt.”
