Euro 2024 fans fume ‘Nike will pay for their crimes’ as Croatia ‘finally have a bad kit’ for first time ever

FANS have slammed Nike for their “terrible” design of the Croatia kit.

Zlato Dalic’s side opened up their Euro 2024 campaign in abysmal fashion and trailed Spain 3-0 at half-time.

The team also drew negative attention for their kits, which have attracted a lot of praise in the past.

Fans feel Nike have messed up with the design they used, moving away from their traditionally small red and white chequered tops.

Instead, the shirt consists of six squares on the front – three red and three white.

While the back is mostly white only, with a couple of small red squares at the bottom.

Supporters do not like the design one bit, with one saying: “This Croatia kit is terrible, deservedly losing for what they’ve done to a classic.”

Another added: “How do you mess up a Croatia kit so badly?”

A third wrote: “Croatia’s kit peaked in 1996. The 1998 one gets all the credit after their brilliant run to third place in the World Cup, but the one from Euro 1996 was even nicer. The current effort is an absolute monstrosity.”

And another commented: “I just noticed the little collar on the already mishandled Croatia kit. Nike will pay for their crimes.”

Croatia Euro 2024 guide

THE usual suspects remain the key men for Croatia... as they have been over a decade.

Defender Domagoj Vida, midfielders Marcelo Brozovic and Mateo Kovacic, former Leicester striker Andrej Kramaric and, of course, captain Luka Modric will be present once again in an experienced squad.

MANAGER: Zlatko Dalic

Plucked from obscurity in the United Arab Emirates back in 2017, Dalic has become a national treasure by leading the Croats to a World Cup final and semi-final.

KEY MAN: Luka Modric

Even at 38, it’s hard to understate the influence of the midfielder, who is one of just four players to win a Ballon d’Or in the Messi and Ronaldo era.

How Croatia attack

The experienced midfield of Brozovic, Kovacic and Modric will prove crucial with two of the three sitting deep and looking to feed the wide players.

The lone striker – either Bruno Petkovic or Andrej Kramaric – will be expected to link everything together up front.

How Croatia defend

Croatia will tend to move from a 4-3-3 to a 4-4-2 out of possession with one of the wide attackers joining the striker to press.

The midfielder will counter press aggressively in the event of a poor touch or pass.

Croatia’s performance also drew pelters as Spain put three goals past them in the first half.

Alvaro Morata opened the scoring after racing through one-on-one, before Fabian Ruiz and Dani Carvajal put them in a commanding position.
