Report: Player has been offered to Barcelona just days after leaving Tottenham

According to journalist Gerard Romero (as relayed by Barca Universal), departed Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has been offered to Barcelona.

Ndombele’s five-year spell at Spurs came to a predictable end earlier this week, with Tottenham agreeing on a pay-off with the midfielder to terminate the year left on his contract.

On the back of the Frenchman’s struggles to get game time on loan at Galatasaray last season, that was always going to be the likely outcome as there was next to no chance of Spurs getting any fee for the player.

Ndombele seemed unlikely to ever get any minutes under Postecoglou had he remained at Spurs.

Move to Barca on the cards for Ndombele?

If Gerard Romero’s latest update is to be believed, Ndombele could end up at Camp Nou this summer.

The journalist claims that the 27-year-old’s representatives have reached out to Barca and offered the club the chance to land their client on a free transfer.

However, he explains that the Catalan club have other priorities for the moment as they are focussing on signing one of Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich or Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino.

Some top club might take a punt on Ndombele this summer, given that he is now available on a free transfer.

However, the 27-year-old would likely have to agree a much lower salary than what he was on at Tottenham.
