Report: Spurs would have to bid close to £50m to sign Postecoglou target

The Daily Mirror have claimed that Atalanta do not intend to sell Tottenham target Ederson this summer and that it is going to take a mammoth offer for Spurs and others to prise the midfielder away.

Ederson has been one of the best midfielders across Serie A this season and he capped off an amazing campaign with an outstanding display in the Europa League final as Atalanta overcame Bayer Leverkusen 3-0.

The Mirror point out that several top clubs around Europe, including Spurs, had been circling around the Brazilian even before the final in Dublin.

However, Atalanta do not feel obliged to sell their star man after qualifying for the Champions League, particularly given that they are expected to lose fellow midfielder Teun Koopmeiners this summer.

The report says that it is going to take an offer of close to £50m for the Bergamo club to even consider sanctioning Ederson’s exit.

Tottenham will have to pay £50m to land Ederson

The outlet claims that it is Fabio Paratici who recommended the player to Tottenham, who are keen on adding a number six to their squad after deciding to put Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on the shop window.

The Mirror say that Ederson is also of interest to Newcastle United, who have scouted him extensively and have identified him as a possible replacement for Bruno Guimaraes.

Finally, the publication adds that the 24-year-old has also been the subject of advances from Juventus while Barcelona ‘appreciate his talent’.

Ederson is arguably the best number six available on the market at the moment and £50m does not seem like an outlandish fee to pay for the Atalanta star. Having said that, Tottenham’s decision on the Brazilian might depend on how much their other transfer operations cost.
