In Paul’s segment, we caught up with his wife, Danielle Hanlon who told her story of what Paul is like off the pitch and as a family man. Whilst Hutchinson Vale Coach Tam Smith gave an insight into Hanlon’s early football days and his exemplary attitude from a young age.

“Paul was my captain at Hutchie from seven-a-side all the way through,” Smith recalls.

“It was an easy decision for me to make because of the way he conducted himself – he was always early, he had great relationships with all his peers, he was well thought of and looked up to.

“His boots were always clean, he had a lot of good habits which were all vital for players who are wanting to move onto the next level.”

Joelle’s chapter includes a touching tribute from team-mate Siobhan Hunter – who has shared the pitch with Joelle since 2009 – explaining how much of an influence she has been on inspiring the next generation. Siobhan said:

“Any young player looking at her cannot fail to be impressed because she is a good player, an even better person and a fantastic leader.

“She’s everything you would want in a captain, and it means the world to her wearing that armband.”

“When you’ve got the experience that Lewy has, as a manager you know you’ll get a solid performance, and that was certainly the way he performed.

“It was great to see him get that much coveted Scotland cap.”

Lewy also shares with us his all-time Hibs starting XI!
