Tottenham academy striker Will Lankshear has been named Premier League 2’s Player of the Year for the 2023-24 season after enjoying a breakthrough campaign.

Lankshear has been unstoppable in front of goal for Tottenham’s Under-21 side this season, having found the back of the net 21 times in PL2.

The 19-year-old is a modern-day centre-forward, capable of linking up play and playing with his back to goal while also having a poacher’s instinct in front of goal.

There is understandably a lot of excitement about the teenager at Hotspur Way, with Alasdair Gold even likening the youngster to a younger version of Harry Kane in The Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham podcast a couple of months ago.

Football League World reported last week that several Championship clubs, including Middlesbrough, are plotting moves to sign the Spurs youngster on loan for the 2024-25 season.

The youngster’s stock is now set to rise further after he deservedly took home the PL2 Player of the Year award.

I would not be surprised if Postecolgou decided to keep Lankshear at the club for the first half of next season rather than sending out on loan.

With Spurs in the Europa League, the competition might be the ideal platform to give some minutes to the likes of Lankshear, Jamie Donley, Alfie Devine and Ashley Phillips.
