Mikey Moore names two senior Spurs stars he has been learning from in training

Teenage sensation Mikey Moore has now been training with the Tottenham Hotspur senior squad for a month, and he’s revealed he has learned a lot from being so close to both Heung-min Son and James Maddison during that time.

After the defeat to Newcastle at the start of April, Tottenham had a two week break before taking on Arsenal in the North London derby. In that period, Moore was invited to step up from the youth team and train with the first team for a while.

That’s a pretty standard procedure at Tottenham, but Moore has not looked back since. Ange Postecoglou named the 16-year-old among the substitutes for the games against Chelsea, Liverpool, and Burnley, but Moore didn’t manage to make it onto the pitch.

That changed on Tuesday night, however, with Moore getting a couple of minutes against Manchester City as a late substitute in the 2-0 defeat. Moore is now the youngest ever debutant in the Premier League era for Spurs.

Maddison has influenced Mikey Moore in training

Reflecting on this experience, Moore spoke to the Spurs media team and explained how much he has taken from getting to rub shoulders with the Tottenham first team of late, with Son and Maddison getting a special mention.

He said: “It’s been good to see the level of the players. It ups your level, you start to get sharper and better on the ball. It’s been good to be learning off players like Sonny, Madders. It’s been unbelievable really.”

Even if he hadn’t got that appearance against City on Tuesday, the experience Mikey Moore has been through this last month will have been invaluable. To get to train at that level and with these kinds of players will only serve to make him a better player, and he has a very bright future indeed.
