Report: Celtic 1 Hibs 0

Hibernian would hit the woodwork twice, but Caitlin Hayes' first-half header would prove to be the match's decicive moment.

Grant Scott made a handful of changes coming into the match – with a quartet of Katie Fraine, Shannon Leishman, Mya Christie and Jorian Baucom all returning to the starting XI.

Looking to avenge their previous performance, Hibs started strongly. The work rate of both Christie and Lauren Doran-Barr on each wing pushed the away side up the field.

With Celtic advancing forward, Amy Gallacher was denied by a fantastic bit of last-ditch defending by Lawson. The forward rounded Katie Fraine but, while trying to smartly slot home into the bottom corner, was denied by the quick reflexes of our number 33 on the goal-line.

Lawson's heroics came to naught however, as Celtic took the lead from the resultant corner. Hayes towered above her marker and headed home at the near post after 21 minutes.

Fraine would be on hand to deny a quick-fire second however, pulling off a magnificent low block to deny Natasha Flint after she was tee’d up by Kit Loferski.

Spurred on and with spirits staying strong, Shannon McGregor nearly levelled the scores with a fierce driven effort from range. The save from a troubled Kelsey Daugherty saw an enticing corner from Powell nearly sneak in at the near post to keep the pressure on.

Rescued by the woodwork – after a ferocious Colette Cavanagh effort cracked the topside of the bar – Hibs rallied for one last assault before half-time. Kirsty Morrison would do well to shirk off challenges from either side before Doran-Barr’s whipped ball into the area, though neither Baucom or Christie’s could convert.

Our first break forward after the restart would see Baucom in a brilliant position to fire away, but our number 5 would be flagged tightly for offside.

A convincing few minutes of play would follow. Christie would do well down the left wing again, playing a short pass to Morrison who jinked past her marker. Her tight shot at the near post was neatly saved by Daughterty but nevertheless provided another moment of positive play.

Flint nearly extended the lead for the hosts but, continuing her fine form, Fraine was on hand to deny yet another opportunity on the goal-line, claiming high to deny a cheeky effort from sliding in under the crossbar.

Racing down the opposite end Baucom nearly levelled, but was unlucky to see her effort smack the crossbar, before hitting the woodwork again with 20 minutes left to play. Meanwhile Celtic had a flurry of chances go to waste, which kept Hibs in the game.

Hibs' best chance fell to Baucom once more, who was unlucky to see her low strike well-saved by Daugherty after Morrison found the forward with a tidy low cross.

Despite some positive play emerging once substitutes Rosie Livingstone and Tegan Bowie appeared, Hibs would lose a tightly contested match.
