HARRY Redknapp saw Britain’s worst football team finally start winnning — and said it was just as exciting as the Champions League.

And he was thrilled to see them overhaul a 2-0 deficit to beat Birchgrove Colts 3rds 3-2 in the Swansea Senior League.

The former Spurs, Portsmouth and West Ham boss, who retired in 2017, said: “I’ve been everywhere, I’ve been to Real Madrid, Milan, Old Trafford, Anfield and I’ve ended up here.

“Oh my God, how exciting was that and what a goal from Shayne…I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed that.

“I was so into that game. I’m just as excited today as when Tottenham beat Milan 1-0 in Milan. This was just as exciting for me today.”

It is a better season for Albion who have also had ex-Swansea boss Garry Monk on board as part of a Specsavers contest.

Redknapp said: “When I got the call up from Specsavers, I didn’t know what to expect.

“The team’s 191-goal difference certainly caught my eye, but after meeting the lads, you can’t doubt their determination.

“They’re a real close unit, and their hard work is already starting to pay off, with the lads securing their first win in three years.

“With the right training and guidance, I’m hopeful that these victories will continue throughout the season.”

Redknapp will take training sessions with the team and pass on vital knowledge to the players as well as words of wisdom to usual manager Dan Gill.

Speaking previously, Dan said: “Having Harry on board for the season is the biggest thing to have happened to our club since I joined when I was 16 years old.

“He’s a huge inspiration for myself and the lads and we can’t wait to start training with him.’
