Journalist Dean Jones thinks that winger Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao is actually more likely to sign for Spurs than the player from Barcelona.
The journalist told GiveMeSport: “I’m not very expectant over Raphinha, even though Tottenham are interested in him.
“They have a few like him on their list but I get the feeling he is on it more in hope than expectation. This is a serious talent. I know he has not set the world alight at Barcelona but he has been desperate to make that move work out and he’s still in the starting XI for Brazil so this is a player who retains high value in the market and Barca would deal with that accordingly if interested parties make contact.
The young Spaniard is known for his pace and the ability to take on players. Williams is reportedly faster than Kylian Mbappe, who is one of the quickest players in the world.
Why Tottenham should sign Williams?
The advantage that Spurs would have in signing Williams is he will come at a cheaper price than Raphinha.
According to ESPN, the Bilbao star can be signed for just £43 million, while Raphinha has been linked with an £86million move to Al Hilal, as per SPORT.
The Spaniard is just 21-years-old and he has a lot to learn in his career. Postecoglou’s record shows how good he is with young players and the Spurs manager would be ideal for Williams’ development.
