Former Liverpool striker claims Conte could turn transfer target into 10-goal-a-season player

0 2

Former Liverpool and Nottingham Forest forward Stan Collymore has backed Tottenham Hotspur to sign Adama Traore.

Collymore claimed that a move to north London for the Spanish international and the prospect of playing under Antonio Conte could see him turn around his fortunes in front of goal and bag a double-figure tally.

Traore has struggled this season to find the back of the net, having registered his first goal of the campaign at the weekend in the 3-1 win at home to Southampton and is yet to register an assist in 22 appearances in all competitions (transfermarkt).

Wolves are said to be determined not to be overpowered at the negotiating table by Tottenham pair Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici in their efforts to sign the 25-year-old (Birmingham Mail).

Metro claim that discussions between Tottenham and Wolves are ongoing over a possible £20million switch.

“He’d be a good signing for Spurs because he would cover a multitude of sins – including cover as a central striker,” Collymore  told the Sunday People (16/1; page 54).

“A lot of you might say he’s only got blistering pace so he’s better out wide.

“But I could see Conte working Traore hard and getting 10 goals a season out of him.”

It would be an impressive return if Traore could score ten goals from a right-wing-back position if employed to undertake the role by Conte.

I have big reservations over the Spaniard’s final ball and composure in front of goal, having squandered a huge opportunity at the weekend moments before he eventually scored and should have also equalised against Spurs at the start of the current season.
